On Earth, Arielle is born as Caralyn Ann McCadie and has the ability to feel the emotions of those around her.  Caralyn has a trio of support; two nominated Guardian Angels - Doreen and Albert-Charles and her Spirit Guide - Cynthia.  Together they help Caralyn find her way, keeping her out of trouble and safe, use ´fate´ (or their orchestrated hand of divine intervention) to ensure she lives her Blueprint exactly as planned - in some role as a healer.  If her life and the consequences of it are substantial enough, God will grand her promotion.  Only things go majorly wrong.

When Caralyn is assaulted, Raphael (who is still in Heaven) is tormented as he can only watch from the spirit world.  With his heart aching, the pain he endures watching Caralyn spiral into depression is too much for him to bear.  He pleads with God and The Council to allow him to return.  They refuse.  With no other option, he makes a pact with the deviin who has the power to help him become mortal with the provision that Raphael must complete a task when he is asked to.  Raphael reluctantly agrees.
